April 4, 2022 - At Sea

Today is a very casual day around the ship.  We saw the two lectures, one on the various ports we will be visiting and another on what constitutes a "country" for purposes of counting countries one has visited.  Dan used the Travelers Century Club list as a point of discussion.  The TCC is open to individuals who have traveled to at least 100 “countries”.  They have a very loose definition that includes countries, territories, areas that are ethnically, geographically, or politically distinct (eg. Alaska and Hawaii are separate from the 48 contiguous US states).  They currently have 324 entities (as opposed to the UN, which lists 193 counties around the world).

Using the TCC criteria we are both just about to 100.

Seas today were rather rough…everyone is “dancing” down the halls of the ship.  Waves were reported to be between 20 and 30 feet high.  Once we get into the Mediterranean tonight (go through the Straits of Gibraltar around 5:00am) it is supposed to get worse.

These were taken from our balcony on Deck 6.
